This is a pretty large release and perhaps more so than LR4. Corel is offering a number of other updates, too, but I have not had the time to test or really review them. I would think that with this amount of greatness, the company’s engineers should have had time to quickly catch up to at least the version of Lightroom that is shipping with the Creative Cloud upgrade for April. Or perhaps they stated that they would be doing that, and then simply released the new LR5 with this kind of delay.
The Final Cut Pro X Red Camera issue that I complained about in my review of that app was resolved in 20.2.1. And, yes, that means that Apple is doing a better job at how it handles bugs. Now when I purchased a Lightroom package, I have no idea if I’m getting “bad” or “good” Lightroom. The bad thing about that is that I could be buying a bad Lightroom. It should be at least a two week wait until the update’s released on March 25 and even longer before all images are completely restored to version 20.2.1. If you’re concerned about your images, you should get an early copy or wait a few more days. However, with the announcement that Adobe has already fixed the app, I’m assuming that the company is about to roll out version 20.2.1 to the public, so you can expect an update around the middle of April. If not, I’m sorry to be a broken record, but I’m sure Apple will give Adobe a good talking to about how it handles updates.
